Why should I do an Engagement or Bridal session BEFORE the wedding?
To do or not to do…Believe it or not doing an engagement and/or bridal session before your wedding can have a big impact on your wedding day photos. I am often asked this question (obviously – I’m a wedding photographer, right?) 🙂 I include an engagement session in EVERY all-inclusive wedding day coverage I offer and encourage my a la carte couples to add it on as well.
Here are my top 5 reasons.
As the photographer I like to make a connection with you before the day. You will be more comfortable with me and in front of the camera on the day of the wedding if we have a connection. Let’s face it, you hired me to be with you that entire day. I’m going to be your new best friend with a camera. If you are not relaxed with me, your tension will show in the photographs that are taken. Connection helps reduce stress and anxiety.
You will already have experience posing with me and hearing my directions. You are going to know what to expect and again, that reduces tension. It also allows me to find out how you photograph, if you tend to blink, etc.
Hair, makeup, dress… This is a wonderful opportunity to do a full practice. Go to the salon and get your hair and makeup done, get a manicure, pedicure. PAMPER yourself a little and at the same time you will get an idea of how everything will come together that day. Including timing the hair and makeup (if there is one thing that makes a bride late, it’s usually hair and makeup).
Bring all appropriate undergarments, shoes, etc. If you are planning special lingerie or have a beautiful wedding night nightie we can do a few of those for him as a ‘wedding gift’. Even a practice bouquet can be fun. It will also make you aware of any adjustments to your dress you may need to consider.
Weddings are emotional and stressful. Full of smiles, tears, anxiety – you name it, I’ve seen it. A session is FUN. You will look and feel beautiful MINUS the stress. I always advise a romantic night out with your future spouse afterwards, or a girls night out after a bridal session.
Engagement and bridal sessions will produce images for Save The Date cards and wedding invitations. Albums and enlargements for the wedding reception are very popular.
