First of all, I have to say I’m sorry I haven’t updated my blog in a week or so but I’m back now! I wanted to share with you a great article on “The Secret Life of Wedding Photographers“. So many people out there right  now think it’s SOSOSO glamorous and easy and fun to be a wedding photographer! They will do your wedding for you for $200-$500 and claim they are becoming jetsetting millionaires (don’t I wish)!

I think this brief article helps to explain to our clients how much time (blood/sweat & tears) is REALLY invested in being a wedding photographer and in owning and operating a legal business. I can safely say each wedding we do has approximately 35-45 hours of work in it.

We have been in business for close to 12 years. I opened the doors of McGreevy-Marks Photography to provide a service that wasn’t available in my area at the time. Not that there weren’t other good photographers, but I wanted to set a standard of excellence and bring my own vision to the industry. To provide the very best to my clients I could find.

Because you see, a picture you hate is worthless….a picture you love is priceless.

I guess I should warn my blog readers, this week is a little crazy with school ending and I have an 8th grader graduating. There will probably more personal posts on the blog than ever before! LOL

A great big thanks to Stuart & Branigan & Coach Dr. Thomas for a great soccer season. We’ve been playing on Dr. Thomas’ team since Austin was a little guy. Now that we’re heading into high school this is probably the last year, but what a great year! We love you Dr. T!

Lafayette Christian has always been a part of my family. My grandparents and their siblings were some of the founding members in 1950. It is so awesome that right now we (LCS) are able to expand to provide greater education and accomodate more students.

Today we celebrated another generous gift from our community from the Mike Raisor Autogroup. Thank you so much for your generosity!

You read it right! We are going to offer a Family Beach summer special this year. I’m not talking our pond beach either. LOL I will be posting more information on this soon. But wanted to give all of our clients a heads up. I will be picking out a day in July and we are going to have a portable studio set up at the Indiana Dunes.

Slots will be extremely limited and will require a $250 deposit. Sessions will last approx. 45 min. each.

If you think your family/friends will be interested in this please email me at christy@mcgreevymarksphoto.com and I will put your names on a list to send out more information. The deposit will be due when the date(s) are firmly set. (there will be a rain date scheduled as well).

The nice thing about getting your family pictures done in the summer, is that it is something you won’t have to stress over in the fall when your kids are running in all different directions. All you’ll have to do is call me up to order your holiday cards. Easy peasy!

Whatever you grew up calling him (I always called mine, Dad), don’t miss a chance to celebrate him this year on June 20, 2010.

I decided to go through all of my images from the last year or so and pull out all of my favorite “Dad” images. There is just something special about having a picture with you and your dad, so this year we are having a Father’s Day Special. It could just be a picture of the kids together that Dad will cherish, or you can bring him in too and get your picture with him. Session completely complimentary with the purchase of our basic collection. This special will be available until June 20th.
