New Orleans
I LOVE this place. Although I did post a quick peek at the swamp tour we went on this summer, I didn’t have much time this summer to post anything else, so I thought I’d share this with you now. It’s about 90 degrees cooler than what it was when I was there. Sheesh! I think my hair was standing on end the entire time (think ‘Friends’ Monica hair when she was in Bermuda)!
I’m wishing for some of that heat right now though!
First stop! Cafe Du Monde – best beignets on the planet!

Yes, this is what I love to do when I’m on vacation. Take pictures! I try to set aside a day for documenting and learning about where I’m visiting.

I loved the gas lanterns I kept seeing and I love how I got the reflection of the cathedral in this one.

A beautiful hidden/private courtyard.
The marketplace

Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, boasts of being the oldest bar in the USA. It was built in 1772. If you visit New Orleans, make sure you try the Hurricanes here, they are made with real fruit juice and wow, I didn’t even know I liked Hurricanes until I tasted theirs.
My wonderful cousin Mer!
Bah, I don’t usually like this type of thing but it seemed to suit this image of Jackson Square.
The crew, Michelle & Jerry & Mer getting ready to chow down at the Crazy Lobster.

I LOVE this place! The shrimp is fabulous! (I think everything there is fab)

We did some exploring of the Lower 9th Ward as well. It is sad to still see the remains of Hurricane Katrina and her damage. There are wonderful rebuilt homes, but right beside a beautiful rebuilt home you find this.

Some of these homes have been rebuilt using recycled materials, solar panels and more. Making it Right and Brad Pitt have helped with the rebuilding of the 9th Ward along with many others.
